About the S.B.S Flat Top Roofing System
A Torch Down Modified Bitumen roof (commonly known as a 2-ply SBS roof system) is a very popular product for commercial roofs today. Consisting of a polyester or fiberglass reinforcing mat sandwiched between two layers of rubberized asphalt, the two-ply roof system is quite durable.
There are several ways of connecting pieces of this material. In a heat application process the seams are heated (torched) to melt the asphalt together and create a seal.
